Transport of goods from England to Austria
Documents necessary to move to Austria:
The effect of Brexit on moving from Great Britain to Austria is the need to complete numerous formalities. Otherwise you will be charged import VAT (20% of the total value) on the property transferred. In this situation, VAT exemption takes place on the basis of obtaining the Transfer of Residence status, based on the documentation prepared by you. As the Ban Trans team, we strive to make the entire moving process easier for you and for this purpose you will need to prepare the following documents:
• Copy of ID card or passport;
• A certificate issued by the local government in Austria confirming your place of residence or, if an EU customs agent agrees, you only need to present a document confirming that you are an EU resident or intend to become one;
• A detailed bill of lading with the value, size and weight of each item listed;
• British residence certificate or other evidence that you have lived in the UK for at least the last 12 months (e.g. 12 months of council tax bills or bank statements showing your address);
• A declaration to the customs authorities that you have used the household items at your usual place of residence in the UK for more than six months and that you will not sell, rent or pawn them once you receive them in your new place, and that you intend to remain an EU resident for at least one year.
• Completed ZBefr2 declaration
• Signed authorization for the customs clearance agent to act on your behalf.
Print and sign all required documents and have them ready for the driver before collecting your property and, for safety, also send them electronically.
Another important document is the CMR form, which our driver will provide you to complete on the day of the move.
To speed up this process, you can contact your local customs office in Austria.
You can find out more information about bringing personal belongings into Austria directly from the government websites.
