Documents necessary to move to Switzerland:
If you are moving from the UK to Switzerland, you will need to complete certain formalities to satisfy the customs authorities that you qualify for Transfer of Domicile status. Failure to meet these requirements may result in the Swiss customs officer treating your property as ordinary import and charging 7.7% of import VAT and 6.3% of import duty on the value of the goods. As the Ban Trans team, we strive to make the entire moving process easier for you and for this purpose you will need to prepare the following documents:
• Copy of ID card or passport;
• Completed customs declaration for the clearance of household items, form 18.44, available for download here >

• Evidence that you have lived in the UK or elsewhere for at least the last 12 months (e.g. 12 months of council tax bills or 12 months of bank statements showing your address);
• Registration document issued by local government in Switzerland and a Swiss residential lease or Swiss employment contract, or if you live with your family in Switzerland, ask them to complete and sign a certificate of residence;
• A detailed bill of lading with the value, size and weight of each item listed;

Print and sign all required documents and have them ready for the driver before collecting your property and, for safety, also send them electronically.

Another important document is the CMR form, which our driver will provide you to complete on the day of the move.

We will start the move only after receiving all the above-mentioned documentation from you and after receiving the consent of the customs authority in Switzerland to start transport.
